The Book Club embarks on its literary journey with a foundation rooted in the shared love for books. Emerging from diverse academic backgrounds, it embraces a shared passion for reading and writing. The Club not only unites students across courses, fostering inclusive discussions and diverse perspectives, but also, through interdisciplinary engagement, enriches the understanding of literature by cultivating an environment where ideas take birth, grow and flourish. The inclusive approach of the Club ensures every member finds a welcoming space, transcending disciplinary boundaries. The Club aims to ignite a passion for reading, nurturing self-growth through discussions and diverse reviews. The vision of The Book Club is to create a community where love for books serves as a unifying force, connecting minds from all academic backgrounds. A vociferous habit of reading is what separates the layman from the leader, and here at The Book Club we believe in inculcating that love for reading in all our members. College life is all about learning and growing as an individual, and you can’t really go far in that journey without the help of books, so come join us here at The Book Club and enrich your life with the wisdom of books.

  • ●Promote a Love for Reading
  • - We believe in developing a deep love towards books and reading in general amongst our members, because a well-read individual is a well-read citizen, and a well-read citizen is the edifice of any society.

  • ●Develop Analytical Skills -
  • Reading leads to the birth of thoughts and ideas and that is what we desperately need in today’s world, thinkers who can analyse the world around them and become the leaders of tomorrow.

  • ●Organise Author Interactions
  • - To facilitate meetups with real-life authors, so as to provide our members with an exposure that they couldn’t gain otherwise and to familiarise them with the process behind writing.

  • ●Encourage Creative Writing and Expression
  • - Free thought and free expression are the bedrock of every democratic society, and that is precisely what we encourage within the members of our club via creative writing in the form of blog/article/short story writing.

    • ●Monthly book discussions - Each month after a democratic poll, we come up with a particular book from a specific genre, upon reading it we decide a mutually agreed date and discuss/debate all the major themes, messages and events related to the text, a truly edifying and enlightening experience for one and all involved.
    • ●Blog writing
    • - This is a more of a personal activity, with individual members writing blogs/articles/short stories according to their own will, we as a Club believe in encouraging all our members to write on topics that fascinate them.
    • ●Book swaps
    • - As readers, we prefer hardcopies of the books we read as opposed to digital copies. While everyone doesn't have access to hardcopies, we encourage members to exchange books they have with others who might be looking to read the same, providing everyone with the holistic experience of reading.
    • ●Film screenings
    • - With a lot of books being adapted into movies nowadays, we feel it's only logical to host film screenings for those who prefer the audio-visual form of media, given video is the popular mode of information in today’s day and age. With the intention that it sparks up a curiosity regarding the original written work, thus encouraging more people to pick up the books those movies are based on and give it a read.
    • ●Read-Alongs
    • - As reading is fast becoming a lost art, reading becomes more palatable when we have a bunch of people doing the same around us. We organise read-alongs where members sit together and read books of their own choosing, providing everyone with an environment where they get the incentive to read.
    • ●Reading challenges
    • - Bringing out the competitive streak in our members, we set up reading challenges that push the horizons of their reading capabilities as well as push them to explore topics and genres outside their comfort zones.
    • ●Trivia games
    • - Serialised books and standalones present a great opportunity for trivia games. The questions lead to members sharing little anecdotes from the books and overall makes us remember why we loved those books as much as we do.
