The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in India in 1969, with the vision of fostering a sense of social
responsibility and community service among students. Guided by the motto “Not Me But You,” NSS aims to develop a
spirit of selfless service and to encourage students to engage in activities that benefit society at large.
NSS KMC, established in 2013, embodies these values through its impactful initiatives and projects. Originally,
a group of dedicated volunteers began teaching underprivileged children on the temple stairs, marking the humble
beginnings of the unit. Over the years, NSS KMC has grown significantly, with the current strength of volunteers
and students reaching approximately 80-90 and 100-110 respectively thereby expanding its influence over the years.
Project SAHYOG is one of the core projects of NSS KMC, dedicated to providing daily educational support to underprivileged
children of our adopted village Chandrawal. Through this project, volunteers work tirelessly to enhance the learning
experience and academic progress of these children, helping to bridge educational gaps and promote their overall development.
another crucial="" initiative="" is="" Project SAHAS, which focuses on the upliftment of women in society. This project strives
to empower women by addressing their issues, promoting their rights, and creating opportunities for their advancement.
,br>In addition to these core projects, NSS KMC is known for its flagship events: Aashayein, UMANG, Women Conclave and
the Youth Parliament .
NSS KMC also organises numerous camps and drives throughout the year, such as dental checkups and blood donation camps,
cleanliness drives etc. further exemplifying its commitment to community health and well-being. More light would be shed
upon our projects, camps etc. in their respective sections.
The values of service and dedication are at the heart of NSS KMC’s operations. Every move is carefully deliberated by the
volunteers to ensure maximum impact. The organisation remains steadfast in its mission to serve society, reflecting the
essence of its motto, “Not Me But You.” Through continuous efforts and community engagement, NSS KMC strives to make a
meaningful difference in the lives of many.
NSS KMC is a vibrant family comprising 100 members, including core members, coordinators, and volunteers.
Each year, approximately 100 students are selected to join NSS KMC for a provisional period of one year.
This selection is based on applications submitted via Google Forms, followed by interviews. Newly recruited
first-year students, known as volunteers, are observed for their commitment and dedication to NSS KMC during
this period. Their responsibilities include essential groundwork, such as teaching children through the Each One
Teach One (EOTO) program, assisting in event preparation, and participating in various drives and camps.
At the end of the first year, a select group of dedicated and skilled volunteers are promoted to the role
of Coordinators through a rigorous interview process. These second-year members take on greater responsibilities,
ranging from administration and management to event planning and execution. They play a crucial role in the functioning
of NSS KMC, serving as the backbone and ensuring smooth operation.
The Core team of third years possesses exclusive authority over all decision-making processes within the unit.
This centralised structure supervises the functioning of the unit and its members. Any proposed alterations or
modifications to existing procedures, policies, or initiatives require explicit approval from the core team before
implementation. Essentially, the core team maintains ultimate control over the unit's direction and course of action.
