NCC  Training Video At A Glance

The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its Headquarters at New Delhi. It is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.

The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

(a) History of NCC
The NCC was formed with the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It was raised on 15 July 1948. In 1949, the Girls Division was raised in order to give equal opportunities to school and college going girls. The NCC was given an inter-service image in 1950 when the Air Wing was added, followed by the Naval Wing in 1952. Same year, the NCC curriculum was extended to include community development/social service activities as a part of the NCC syllabus at the behest of Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who took keen interest in the growth of the NCC. Following the 1962 Sino-Indian War, to meet the requirement of the Nation, the NCC training was made compulsory in 1963. In 1968, the Corps was again made voluntary.

(b) Organisation of NCC
At Headquarters level, the NCC is headed by a Director General with the rank of lieutenant-general. He is assisted by two Additional Director Generals (A and B) of two-star rank (major-general, rear-admiral or air vice-marshal). Five Brigadier level officers and other civil officials also assist him. The Headquarters is located in Delhi. There are 17 Directorates located in the state capitals headed by an officer of the rank of a Brigadier from the three Services. Depending upon the size of the state and growth of NCC in the states, Directorates have up to 14 Group Headquarters under them through which they exercise their command and control of the organisation in the state. Each group is headed by an officer of the rank of Colonel or equivalent known as Group Commander. Each NCC Group Headquarters control 5-7 units (Bns) commanded by Lt. Colonel/Major or equivalent. Each Battalion consists of companies which are commanded by the Associate NCC Officer (ANO) of the rank of lieutenant to major. In all there are 95 Group Headquarters in the country who exercise control over a network of 667 Army Wing Units (including technical and girls unit), 60 Naval Wing Units and 61 Air Squadrons.

(c) Aim of NCC
The Main aim of NCC are
1. To Developing Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further,
2. To create a Human Resourse of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose.
3. To provide an environment conducive to motivate young Indians to join the armed forces.

(d) Mott of NCC
"Unity and Discipline" is the motto for the NCC
Kirori Mal College has two companies, consisting of 160 vacancy for boys and 160 for girls. The NCC for Boys [Senior Division] started in the year 1964. The NCC for girls [Senior Wing ] was raised in the year 2004. The battalion associated with Boys is 5 DBn (5 Delhi Boys Battallion, Kashmere gate, Delhi) and Girls wing is under 1 DGBn ( 1 Delhi Girls battalion, Kashmere gate, Delhi).
The Associate NCC Officer (ANO) leading the companies are Capt. Dr. Raksha sharma (Since 2014) and Lt. Dr. Panmei Gaijon (since 2022).

The Ex- ANO Maj. Prof. Shiv Kumar Kaushik leaded the entire SD and SW companies since 1993.

(a) Weakly Drills
NCC Unit KMC conducted weekly Drill Activity under the supervision of ANOs along with the drill they conduct some lectures also relating to personal growth and motivate the NCC cadets to take active participation in NCC activities with great zeal and enthusiasm.

(b) Annual all India Level NCC festival
The NCC KMC Unit hosted National level annual NCC festival ‘CADET’ for over 3 days that involve various competitions, cultural shows, and workshops. This event has been organized annually since 1999 and The event has had participants from Goa, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, West Bengal, Telangana, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, and other parts of the country alongside participants from Delhi. Few objective of the events are National Level Participation, Women empowerment, School student’s participation, Motivation by the Eminent speakers. Inculcate Leadership qualities, Boost confidence, and Personality development, to learn Resource and Human management, to inculcate "UNITY and DISCIPLINE".

(c) College Founder's Day Activities
Our Cadets perform Gaurd of Honour to pay respect to the Cheif Guests and our college on Founder’s Day and they escort the Chief Guest through the entire programme in the most humble and disciplined way.

(d) Annual Education Trip
To inculcate the various leadership qualities an adventurous trekking trip is organised every year, which inculcates the courage, taking initiative, performing beyond the limits, qualities in the cadets.

There are various types of camps which are organised. Types of camps are:
(a) CATC - combined annual training camp: Each and every cadet has to attend two CATC in their second and third year to make them eligible for B and C certificate examination
