This year, the Choreography Wing of Sensation presented their annual production, MATSARYA, showcasing the captivating tale of two friends bound by their passion for Dance, one mastering the rhythmic art of Hula Hooping, while the other gracefully manipulates with Ribbons. executed synchronized movements that wove a story of camaraderie and mutual admiration. However, envy seeped into the heart of the Ribbon dancer as the Hula Hooper's fame soared, leading to a tragic betrayal that extinguished her friend's life. But the spirit of the Hula Hooper returned from beyond, haunting her former friend with a spectral vengeance, enacting the ultimate justice and imparting a poignant lesson on karma through ethereal choreography.

This innovative choreography was unfolded on stage under the visionary guidance of Akshay Bharadwaj, who crafted each sequence with meticulous attention to detail, infusing the performance with raw emotion and powerful choreography.

The incorporation of modern contemporary dance as the primary style added depth and complexity, enriching the emotional resonance of the piece. Seamlessly blending elements of Hula Hoop and Ribbon dance with contemporary movement techniques ensured that the choreography was both visually stunning and emotionally resonant.

As they promise to return with even more Vigor, style, and energy, there's no doubt that they have been designated as one of the teams with the mightiest roots, standing out as a team, not just in terms of their foundations, but also the authenticity of the styles they've tapped into such asBreaking, Krump, Hip-Hop, Locking, waacking with a dash of Voguing, Lite feet, etc.

This year's performance, led by Mr. Vinay Kumar, also known as Vikki, was remarkable as the team wholeheartedly immersed themselves in the world of street dance. They skillfully showcased the essence, strength, and irresistible allure of street dance, shining a spotlight on it in the vibrant Delhi Dance Scene.

  • 1. INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
  • Sensation was invited to perform at an ICSSR-sponsored international conference on October 3rd,2023. Under the guidance of Prof.Roopinder Oberoi 10 students took part in this event. The performance likely showcased the blend of traditional art and contemporary messaging making it a memorable and culturally significant event at the international conference.
  • 2. AASHAYEIN
  • On November 6th, 2023 Sensation participated in Aashayein organised by NSS. Over 6 people took part in this event and performed in the event.
  • 3. G20 SUMMIT
  • On 16 November 2023, our team wowed global leaders with an electrifying dance performance. Our moves got everyone talking and left a lasting impression, showing our commitment to spreading joy and positivity worldwide.
  • 4. ALUMNI MEET
  • On 6th April 2024, Kirori Mal College, Delhi University organized an Alumni Meet. An attendance of over 1000+ alumni was recorded with overwhelming positivity, making the event a grand success. All the seniors from 2000 to 2020 joined together to give extraordinary performances. The occasion was regarded as a huge success.

    SENSATION ANNUAL FEST


    Sensation, the Dance Society of Kirori Mal College, orchestrated their annual festival, SWAY SAGA, on April 3rd and 4th, 2024. This flagship event embraced four diverse dance categories: Choreografia- the Thematic Group Dance Competition, Swaralaya -The Indian Solo Classical Dance Competition, Bonanza-The Western Group Dance Competition and Tussle -Street Battle. A very enthusiastic crowd and societies from various colleges showed up for the bevent, showcasing an array of talents. Sway Saga served as a splendid showcase of passion and proficiency among dancers, leaving a lasting impression.


    CHOREOGRAFIA

    Choreografia - The Thematic Group Dance Competition organized by the Choreography Wing of Sensation took place on April 4th,2024. with four teams participating. The hosts for the event were Rashika Sachdeva & Varnika Singh. The competition was judged by two esteemed individuals: Mr. Akshay Bharadwaj, a trained dancer proficient in contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop, who was also honored with the Choreographia Award by Shakti Mohan, and Mr. Mahesh Bharti, a KMC alumnus who played a significant role in shaping the KMC Dance Society,

      Sensation

      The four participating teams were :
    • • Choreography Society of Lady Shri Ram College with their production “The Inside Out” exploring the theme of Imposter Syndrome.
    • • Srijya, the choreography society of Hindu College, their production was titled "Devdasi" dedicated to temple worship prevalent in ancient India.
    • • Capella, the choreography society of NSUT with their production, "Marionette" which depicted a tale of deception and dominance.
    • • Sparx, the choreography society of Gargi College with their production, "Abyss" portraying the waxing and waning phases of addiction.
      All teams delivered exceptional performances.Team Capella (NSUT) emerged as the runner-up, while Sparx (Gargi College) was crowned the winning team. The competition concluded smoothly, and the winning teams were felicitated by our honorable judges.

      BONANZA

      Bonanza literally means rich fortune & in huge amounts of something pleasant, & hence the header for the Western Group Dance Competition organized by Sensation in its eventSWAY SAGA covering the 4th of April, 2024. More than 50 teams from the entire Delhi Dance Circuit auditioned online to have their position secured to finally be able to perform at the extravaganza, wherein a total of 8 teams were selected, & 4 were on standby. Proudly, our esteemed judge for the event was Mr. Vinay Kumar aka Vikki,,/b> who himself is a graduate of KMC, and has gone places, representing Sensation, both nationally & internationally. The hosts for the event were Ayushi Sahu & Tejaswa Singh, & the event proved to be an incredible success. SPARDHA & CVS ZESTREETS, the dance societies of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College & College of Vocational Studies, took to being the Winners & Runners Up of the competition, respectively. Kudos to all the ones who participated & gave their best efforts in making this the way it turned out to be!

      SWARALAYA

      "Swaralaya," the solo classical dance competition organized by the Choreography Wing of Sensation took place on 3rd April 2024. The competition comprised two rounds: the preliminaries were conducted virtually, and 12 participants were selected for the final round which was conducted in the Multipurpose Hall. Dancers from various colleges participated each bringing their unique interpretation of different dance forms including Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi, etc. The judging panel was led by Mrs. Shalini Sane Baxi, who possesses training in Bharatnatyam and has performed at numerous prestigious venues. She is also trained in Hindustani Classical music. Moksha Manchanda from Aryabhatta College (Kathak) secured the third position, while Sia Verma from Gargi College (Kathak) claimed the second position. Thulsi Babu from Maitreyi College emerged as the winner who performed Kuchipudi, with Mansa Gautam from Janki Devi Memorial College (Bharatnatyam) receiving a special mention. Following the competition, an insightful feedback session was conducted by our esteemed judge. The event concluded successfully with the felicitation of the winners.

      TUSSLE

      The second & another successful edition of the street dance battle took place on 3rd April 2024. Known for its event flow being one of a kind, this year it had two categories: 1vs1 Rep Your Style (Open for All) & Crew vs Crew (College Division), & this isn’t it, there was House Showcase, Judges' Showcase, & Locking Exhibition Battle with an undeniably skilled judge panel consisting of Mr. Deepak Shahi aka NEPO & Mr. Neeraj Pandey, two of the most renowned names of not just the Delhi Dance Scene but all over India and even worldwide. The event was graced by Mr. Govind Singh as the Emcee and Mr. Dipanshu aka DJ Boogie Deep as the Deejay made a huge contribution to smooth functioning while bringing the essence of the underground scene to the surface & were highly appreciated by everyone who was a part of it. CVS Zestreets from the College of Vocational Studies emerged as the Winners while RAW from Satyawati College bagged the Runners-up in the Crew vs Crew. Prince Yadav aka hoza_india, and Mohit Jain aka 360_fauj took to the Winner & Runner-up position, respectively.
      ,br> The dance event reached its crescendo, magnetizing a spirited and diverse gathering that wholeheartedly embraced the Annual Fest. It brilliantly highlighted the universal allure of dance as a powerful form of expression, uniting individuals in a jubilant celebration of rhythm and joy. As the event concluded, the memories created on the dance floor authentically represent the energetic and communal spirit that was shared by all.

Fresher’s talent show: The event was organized on, the 3rd and 24th of February, 2024. Freshers were given a platform to showcase their talent be it in any dance form. They were given a time limit of 1-1.5 minutes.
    Choreography and Western Workshop: Both the wings organized separate workshops for their respective dance forms.
